I'm surprised, they didn't REMOVE a whole tree altogether, since I'm not aware of any other religion than Christianity, using Christmas tree, aside form the tree, being called Christmas tree anyway.

Actually the Christmas tree is adopted from a pagan tradition. Before the first Christmas, the ancient German people used trees to celebrate the winter solstice. That's why we use the evergreen - it's a symbol of the of ETERNAL life and the promise of SPRING. When Christianity reached the Germanic PEOPLES they still used the tree to celebrate the winter holiday, and the practice has spread throughout the world.Quote from: JJ 3000 on December 27, 2009, 12:13:26 AM
