Answer»

The Wall Street Journal and USAToday, thanking America for its MONEY. They also posted these ads proudly on their blog. The reaction from actual Americans was, um, harsh.

They spent our taxes on thanking us

Nice job. No wonder they are going broke...

http://consumerist.com/5137457/chrysler-buys-ads-thanking-you-for-tax-money-you-get-pissed-chrysler-censors-youlol... that's hilarious. What did they expect from this?

I'm so glad my government isn't giving huge amounts of cash to private companies... Not that I really have much else about my government to be proud of... last good PM was probably trudeau... and that was before I was born...It might just be me but I think bringing the millions of people who are in debt OUT of debt would do more for the economy then selling new cars will. Everyone who spends the money and pays taxes are still unable to buy the cars. D'oh And if a company can't react to changing markets... it should be ALLOWED to die. They have a valid argument in if the BIG 3 go under it would CREATE a huge vacuum of unemployment and other historic financial woes. But still the people who aren't buying now  won't be buying next year either because it just isn't a good financial decision right now.

Bailing them out is one thing. They also need to restructure internally. "Trim the fat". With benefits a line worker costs the company around 75 - 80 dollars an hour. The unions have them bleeding losses and nobody but themselves can fix that. I am all for Unions, but when they become more powerful then the company itself it's time to step back. It's legal robbery in my opinion. If you are employed in one of the 22 states that has a Right to Work law, you are probably protected by the state's Right to Work law and cannot be required to join or pay dues or fees to a union. (There are a small number of exceptions to the basic rule that individuals who work in Right to Work states cannot be required to pay to join or pay dues or fees to a union. Employees of airlines and railroads, and employees working on property subject to exclusive federal jurisdiction, cannot be required to join a union, but may be required to pay union fees. If you are an airline or railroad employee, click here for an explanation of your rights. If you work on property subject to exclusive federal jurisdiction, call the Foundation for further information.)

The following states have a Right to Work law:

Alabama, ARIZONA, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.

We people in Georgia making between 15 and 20 dollars an hour which is good pay can't afford a 75 dollar an hour vehicle.Sell them in Detroit.

stupid people! There are many businesses that have gone under due to union wages. While I have nothing against a union they can do as much damage as they they do good. The auto industry is a prime example. Raising wages/benefits with no income to back it up was stupid. But then if the CEO's didn't live so extravagantly then the workers wouldn't have as much reason to complain. If the U.A.W. has almost enough resources to buy GM i find it hard to be compassionate for them...
