Answer» Ok! I mistakenly did something that it recommends you don't do. I set the jumper to clear CMOS with the POWER attached and now the system powers up but does absolutely nothing. Did I fry the motherboard or is there something less serious that can be done?ove all power sources and remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes...replace plug in and power up....does this help ? ? Why were you CLEARING the CMOS ? ?I installed a promise card to add another hard drive. It created problems so I removed it and then found that the there was a startup problem and cleared the CMOS which fixed the problem.
Got a second Promise card and tried again, same thing only forgot the power when clearing the CMOS.
Tried the battery, no change in status. The Promise drivers need to be installed and then you have to enter setup to enable the DEVICE in the BIOS...hey mate same problem happened with me when tryin to clear my cmos i even took the battery out for 20mins and still nothing so all i did was thought stuff it so i took it back out and then just left it sit overnight and waa LAA in th morning plugged it back and and it booted fine try that and see what happensWill try it and see. I have removed the promise card and gone back to ORIGINAL configuration and just want the system to start up. Hope the overnight will work otherwise I have an excuse for an upgrade.
