Solve : Combo IDE/SATA External HD Enclosure (USB2 Powered)-Seen as USB2 Device?? |

Answer» I know this is very likely a dumb question. I've ordered a combo IDE/SATA HD Enclosure. Since that enclosure has IDE and SATA ports for connection of the HARD DRIVE being used, does Windows see the device as either IDE or SATA, or does it simply see it as one of a number of USB2 devices? No burning reason for the question - just technical curiosity, which I suppose could wait until I receive and CONNECT up the enclosure.In my case Win XP, Windows just shows the hdd as a USB drive.Thanks, drmsucks. I really couldn't imagine that Windows could see the drive as anything other than a USB2 drive, but what do I know?BUT, if you use the SAFELY Remove Hardware routine to shut it down - the drive is properly identified, not as IDE or SATA, but MODEL. |
