Answer» can anyone HELP me please.. my comp froze and i switched it off manually not by logging out. turned it back on. nothing.. went straight to a menu saying 'safe mode' 'safe mode with networking' and a few others. i tried all of the options and none of them work it just keeps returning to the menu. it's a HP..with winxpReboot to that menu by tapping F8 REPEATEDLY before the Windows screen starts loading...CHOOSE "last known good configuration" and see if this gets you back in.thanx 4 replying so soon. i did try that and it just keeps going back to the same menu. i heard there's a battery in the back of the hard drive that can be taken out and restarts the computer. but i don't know if it will wipe everything.. do you know about it?? There is no battery in a hard drive...and that's the CMOS battery SOMEONE told you about which is probably not the problem right now. Do you have a Windows XP CD ? ? This is what we will need.
