Solve : Comp won't recognize the DVD? |
|
Answer» Got my comp as a referb and it came with an LG DVD multi recorder, at first everything was great, I put in my CD recorder as the slave and all was well. About 3 mos ago after updating all of a sudden there's no DVD drive anymore, just the CD. I plugged & unplugged, restarted, been thru the add hardware, REINSTALLED software and made it now the slave. Still nothing. there's no DVD drive anymore, just the CDIn Device MANAGER? What's the brand, and model of that drive, and by what name is it listed in DM?It's an LG, it doesn't even show up in Device Manager. I'm stumpedAre both your optical drives working off of the same motherboard IDE port?Try a brand new IDE cable...they do go bad. They're both on the same port, and I've run them both as master and slave and still no DVD. I've got a cable I'll try and see if that fixes. ThanksReplaced cable and still no dice. It's like it's not, nor ever has been connected. Thanks guysSo, what happens if you use another 4 pin molex power plug from the power supply? Still nothing, funny thing thought since I've made the cd rom the master Windows starts much faster now. Used to take 10-30 min just to get Windows running. Now that I think about it one TIME before I had to restart to get the DVD to show up. Just not happening now.The CD/DVD drives should not be on the same channel as the hard drives if possible. |
