Answer» Got my comp as a referb and it came with an LG DVD multi recorder, at first everything was great, I put in my CD recorder as the slave and all was well. About 3 mos ago after updating all of a sudden there's no DVD drive anymore, just the CD. I plugged & unplugged, restarted, been thru the add hardware, REINSTALLED software and made it now the slave. I'm stumpedAre both your optical drives working off of the same motherboard IDE port?Try a brand new IDE cable...they do go bad.They're both on the same port, and I've run them both as master and slave and still no DVD. Used to take 10-30 min just to get Windows running. Now that I think about it one TIME before I had to restart to get the DVD to show up. Just not happening now.The CD/DVD drives should not be on the same channel as the hard drives if possible.
