i just got done reformatting a compaq - what a LEARNING experience that was! i started from the beginning - fdisked and took everything that was ever on there - so, no need for the rescue disk (someone gave me the computer and said it didn't work, i could use it for parts). started with the boot disk i had for my other system, booted into A, started without cd support, reformat the drive, then on restart used cd support. then picked the drive - i think it really was C: setup.
from there - this works great - and my friend is a BIT BUMMED out - all i really did was take out what the distributer put in and put my own stuff in there - now my kids have their own computer to mess up and i don't care!sounds like you gota good deal Free can' t beat that.
