Answer» i have had the same laptop for around 3 years, Compaq Presario v200
i rarely use it , except for entertainment purposes. recently while watching a DVD, the screen blacked out....and stayed that way! the disk drive opened so i managed to get the DVD out, but my laptop will not turn off....i have unplugged it, tried the Ctrl/Alt delete.. hit power button,.....still no respose? i dunno how to turn it off, and i dont WANT to risk any damage to the battery Hold the power button down for a few seconds, that'll turn it off.thank you!! i was a LITTLE worried that if i just held the button down , it would get stuck.. i am really kinda computer illiterate. so, i'll re-start and see if that FIXED it! if not, come back soon and read again....i hope it's not my motherboard..ect!Turn it off by holding the button, WAIT a minute, then turn it back on and see how it is.
