Answer» Hello, I am about to buy the first vid card in a long TIME and the last time I bought cards was before DDR ^_^;;
Anyways before I buy it I want to make sure if I have to be carefull about what kind of memory a card has. Do I have to match it like I would my Ram?
I have
motherboard: A7V400-MX CPU: Athlon XP 2500 Ram: 2g DDR 400mhz
I am also buying a 500W powersupply
I have XP pro and 2000 pro
Thanks ahead for your input!Does no replys mean I asked a rather dumb question or a hard one? ^_^;; I'm about to buy it if I see no response. Either that or one that says DRR in the DESCRIPTION instead of DRR2what type of vid card are you going for?doh nvm lolSome time it takes a while for responses and there is no such thing as a dumb question. However, to answer the question it should not matter what type of video memory the video card as it is INDEPENDENT from the system memory. You will not need to match it type or quantity.that graphics card will WORK, just be sure to buy the AGP version. as the admin has said, the type of memory on the video card is independant from the computer system and therefore does not need to match your system memory.
an added note, quite honestly, a 500W PSU is overkill for that system. you could get away with a 300-350W.
another note, you should expect to wait at LEAST 24hrs for a response in a FORUM. you must remember that this is not a live chat room.
