Solve : Compatible PSU??

Answer»

I just bought a new motherboard, but i just realized that the cables on my current power supply are too short. And does not have the required plugs to RUN the motherboard (8 Pin CPU Plug) (6 Pin Pci-E Plug) it has both but they're not compatible with the board for some reason and the power supply is getting old anyway. so im wondering if these two are compatible with each other?

Motherboard: EVGA nForce 780i

Power Supply: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-530SS 530W Power

I'm planning to run SLI on this and hope not to have to buy another power supply for that purpose.

ThanksDid you got the video card manufacturers site to check what psu's are 'certified' to run with the video card ?

Then all you have to do is get one of those, or one with similar specs.Quote from: hcooke on December 10, 2010, 11:34:46 AM

I have a BFG 9600gt that requires a 6pin pci-e plug...

but as for right now im just wondering if the psu that i posted is compatible with the motherboard (that i already have)..

thanks
Can't tell is has the 8-pin P4 12V connector. It could have a 4 or 6 or 8 or an adapter. Mobo needs 8-pin. PSU is 37A (20+17) of 12V, look for more.Quote from: Computer_Commando on December 10, 2010, 04:40:07 PM

The video card should have a specification for 12V power.Quote from: Computer_Commando on December 12, 2010, 12:17:20 PM

yes the video card is a BFG 9600gt that requires a 6 pin PCI-E power source Quote from: BluerjB on December 12, 2010, 12:43:24 PM

Then you should buy a PSU that accomodates those needs instead of jury=rigging one...Quote from: patio on December 12, 2010, 02:20:20 PM

That's right. If the psu doesn't have the proper connector, then it's not up to the job.
If you're looking for someone here to tell you it's okay for you to use the psu you have, then allright, "use what you have". Feel better?Quote from: Computer_Commando on December 12, 2010, 03:16:28 PM
