My desktop doesn't beep, either, even though it appears to have the "beeper" SOLDERED to the motherboard. It's a branded computer & many features have been deleted from the BIOS. You should be ABLE to enter the BIOS with NOTHING attached except for the keyboard & monitor; no hard drives or OPTICAL drives will usually force it to the BIOS screen because there is nothing to start booting.
