Answer» Hi Sometimes when I turn on my computer the screen doesn't come up and the computer beeps continuously and rapidly (I would say around 50-60 beeps). Then the beeping stops for a few seconds and starts all over again. I have a Phoenix BIOS. What is the problem? Remove a side panel or the case if needed and make sure the video card and RAM are seated properly. As always when working inside the case remove all power sources and take anti-static precautions. You may want to do some housekeeping while you are in there. Do NOT use a vaccuum. Compressed air in a can works well.I did it for hunderds of TIMES, it doesn't help. I understand that the beeps mean SOMETHING, but I couldn't FIND what these beeps mean.It should say what it is in your MBoard manual...if you do not have one they are usually available for DLoad at the manuf. site. Let us know.I found this site: http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html
And it says: Repeating (Endless loop) Memory error Bad memory or bad connection
It sounds like the beeping I have, but there is one problem. I don't have any extra hardware, so I need to know the exact problem before I buy a new one. From the begining I suspected the problem is with the memory or with the video card. From the beeping it seems that the problem is with the memory, but sometimes the colors on my screen change (to some weird colors of pink, green and blue) and when I restart the computer it beeps like I told you. Can a memory problem do it? Or is it the video card?DLoad and run MemTest...it makes a bootable floppy/CD and boot to it... Let it run a few hours. Any ERRORS then the RAM is bad. No errors and it's probably the video card.ThanksMy computer has passed the memory test, but I STILL think the problem is with the memory and not with the video card. Is it possible that the problem is with the memory even though it passed the test? It's highly unlikely...highly.
