Solve : computer beeps on and off?

Answer»

I've been having start-up problems with my HP. When I TURN it on I hear the hard drive start up but the screen says "no signal" and the keyboard doesn't work. After fooling with the motherboard I got the unit to start up FINE but noticed the fan on the heat sink was dead. So I removed it. The fan had a bad connection. Now when I start-up the unit I get a intermittent beeping and "no signal" on the monitor. Any ideas. Thanks alot!! :-/ How many beeps?

[glb]Flame[/glb]it beeps continuously on and offBy itself, or when you press a key?

STOP right now!!!
Won't start without CPU fan.  The computer is trying to protect the CPU from self destructing.  Do not try to start until you replace CPU fan.
Thanks Commando- replaced fan and beeping stopped. Now I'm back to original problem. Turn unit on, I can hear hard drives start up but I get no signal to screen and keyboard is inoperable,-green LIGHT remains on on caps-locked button.  ThanksIs this a wireless monitor that you are using?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Hello freind How are you? You said after replacing fan, beeping stoped. But when you turn your PC ON, they monitor says "No Signal".
I think just take out your computer's RAM sticks and clean them with dry cloth and also clean those RAM slots (WITH CARE).
Now just put them back as they was. Now turn your PC ON. I am 100% sure that it will boot very fine....
Hope this will solve your problem.
Take care of you and others and be happy.

Thanks Dur E,
I tried that, but nothing happened, except now the computer shuts down on some sort of protective MODE, as if something overheats and causes shut down and unit will go back on when it cools after a few seconds. The longer I keep it going the faster it shuts downRunning with no fan may have killed the CPU.

You said, "...After fooling with the motherboard I got the unit to start up fine..."
What does this mean? unit I could hear the hard drives (2) start up, but screen says no signal, cable for monitor has been checked and I tried another monitor and cable and I got the same outcome. The CPU never got hot enough to be baked.
