Answer» so, i have a little problem, after i installed a second 80gb hdd, the computer has been booting wierd here is how:
computer starts boots up, displays the info crap and then goes to the windows xp loading screen then, the computer does all this a SECOND time and my computer goes into the selection of safe mode normal mode blah blah blah. when i choose normal mode it displays the crap, then goes to xp loading screen and starts up as normal with no problems.
what could be causing this to happen? i dont think it is anything dangerous, but its annoying and it takes 3x longer to BOOT up, so i want it gone
thanks for anyone who can helpWhat anti-virus and anti-spyware SOFTWARE do you have installed?just the regular microsoft crapReally? Not GOOD...
That MS horse manure is not protecting you at all...
Download and install the following applications:
Spybot - Search & Destroy AVG Free Edition
Now boot Windows in Safe Mode and run a full scan with each application. What do they find?i got 37 threats whado i do?I don't think, your problem is malware related, since it started right after you installed second HD. Maybe, you hooked it up incorectly, but you'll have to wait for hardware guys to answer your questions.
Having malwares on your computer is another issue. That may be checked later. How are the drives connected physically and how are they jumpered ? ? Your old drive which contains the OS on it should be jumpered as master or master w/slave and connected to the end connector of the ribbon cable... The new drive should be jumpered as slave and connected to the middle connector of the IDE ribbon cable.
Was there anything on this 80G drive ? ? If it had Windows on it as WELL and is jumpered improperly that would cause these symptoms... POST back with all the details.
