i was PLAYING a game today and in the middle of battle my computer froze, its about a year old and has only truly froze 1-3 times in the past. i let it sit for a minute to see if it would clear up, the mouse was still working but could not click or use any key commands. So i did the most logical thing i could think of and held the power button down till it shut off, when i restarted the computer it did the normal bios run. and when windows started up i noticed in my TRAY the volume sound control had a red circle with a line thru it, i clicked on it and automatically went to a TROUBLESHOOTER and it was trying to detect the problem, but it didnt find any. Now it keeps saying that i have no audio device hooked up, which is not true...i use integrated sound but its never given me a problem in the past. I have an ASUS M4A77TD board and windows 7 64bit OS, any other info that is needed please let me know. i dont want to have to buy a new board but if i NEED to then so be it, thankyouReinstall Via audio driver.
http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jspi just spent the past 45 mins trying to re install the audio drivers from the asus website, they wont install or its just not helping. and on top of that in the device manager there is no sound tab, but there is an other device tab that has about 30 identical items under it that say "unknown device on high definition audio bus". Ive gone through the properties of each, no useful info. i tried deleting and rebooting my system but they come back and the problem is still persistent. the only new hardware or anything ive done is i got a new modem from my isp when i upgraded it but that was 3 days ago and installed by my isp. i doubt thats the case but it sure does seem my drivers and/or hardware got messed up bad somehowTry the drivers from the link I provided previously.
