Solve : Computer Monitor Help?

Answer»

Hi everyone,

I've been having problems with my monitor and it just started yesterday. Here are my specs just in case:

Windows XP Home SP2
2.8 Ghz P4 processor W/ HT
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB video card
320 GB HD
1 GB of DDR RAM
500W Antec Power Supply

It's an LCD monitor by Kogi. What happens is the desktop, internet, and any other application has streaks of discolored pixels in rectangular vertical stripes. It gets worse when you try to drag a window around and the pixels INCLUDE all colors. It makes working on the computer almost impossible. I just updated my 9800 Pro driver, but nothing changed. The monitor is about five years old, which could be the PROBLEM, but I thought LCDs would last a long time. I have always had a screensaver so the images wouldn't get burnt in. I haven't opened my computer up to make sure the video card is securely fastened, so if I have to do that, it's no problem. I wanted to know if there were something I could do before DEALING with that. Thank you for your response.CHECK the video card connection, and check for dust.

Does this happen in safe mode? Tap F8 when booting.
And can you give us a screen shot too?
