Solve : Computer needs a soft boot for Start-up?

Answer»

My Digital Storm PC needs to be soft-booted each time we start in the morning. The XP Pro software loads, but the screen just GOES dark (the monitor is on).

Thought maybe the fans were not working, overheating, so I ran SpeedFan's software and discovered that the GPU (Ge Force vid. card) and Core (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor) were listed as 63' C! Checked the fans in nVIDIA'S settings and thery were at CPU 1973 RPM and GPU 4983 RPM.

The MAIN board is a EVGA 122-CK-NF68 2; clock is at 266 mghz. and is not pushed.

Can I fix this overheating problem with an extra fan?An extra fan NEVER hurts.  Have you cleaned the inside of the computer lately / lots of dust bunnies there / latest drivers for the VIDEO card?

Alan <>< Installing the latest drivers for the GeForce 7900 vid. now. Maybe that's it!I have a SOYO MBoard that has acted the same way for a few months now...never did track down the cause...i guess i just got used to it.
One thing you COULD try would be to borrow a known good PSU of the same or greater wattage and swap it in there overnite and see if that changes things...Called Digital Storm and they are sending out a MB (free of charge to me) today! That's certainly better than anything we've come up with.....

Just to clarify: the update of Vid. Card drivers didn't fix the problem.
