Solve : Computer News Nonsense?

Answer»

Some ITEMS that would be computer news are so warped taht we ought to have a separate place for them.
Here is a recent one.

Intel Claims Next Chip Will Run Laptops For 24 Hours.
Here is the story. Sort of. Looks like Intel PR.

Here is a forum the pokes fun at the idea.

The are dozens, maybe hundreds that just echo the Intel PR.
But this one REALLY went to the extreme. Se if you can understand the logical relationship between long battery life and WINDOWS 8. Why would a new OS IMPROVE battery life? Isn't  it the other way? Older system, m minimal hardware.

Speaking as an electronic engineer, the main aim of every engineer is:

1) Reduce "footprint" i.e. make the products smaller
2) Make the device faster and more powerful
3) Make the device more power efficient, e.g. using CMOS chips instead of TTL (TTL usually needs 5V, but CMOS may need as little as 2.3V), using components with lower min currents (VI = P) etc.I would have thought that some consideration (actually a good deal) would be the aspect of cost. Primarily the cost of production-in order to maximize the saleability of the device and to obliterate the competition.truenorth
