Solve : Computer not powering up?

Answer»

after plugging in a digital camera, the computer completly died (turned off) but not staight away, after a few seconds. i've tried different leads and cables, but still nothing. ive also tried only plugging the PSU into the motherboard (to MAKE sure it wasnt overloaded or SOMETHING) and yet still, nothing. Do you think the PSU is bust? and do you think it has something to do with the fact i plugged the camera in. I dont have much plugged into the computer.

Its a Q-tec 400W PSU
1 CD-Rom drive
1 DVD-Rom drive
1 Floppy disk drive
2 SATA HDDs
most of the components are Gigabyte
1 PCI-E Graphics card
1 USB/ FIREWIRE card
1 Fiber-optic card
2 RAM Cards
1 AMD Processor

I dont know whether all of these details are important, but i thought id mention everything to save as much time as possible.

Thank you,

Good for you, you did include a lot of details. How old is that power supply? Do you have another one to slip in there for a test?

My guess at this time is PSU and/or mobo. Since it happened right as youdid something, it could have shorted out the board in some bizarre fashion.

So TRY the PSU swap. If not, then think about a new board. Keep everything else unplugged for now except CPU/fan, RAM and video card.
thanks, ill give that a shot.
Let us know. We'll leave the light on.
