Answer» My computer will not recognize plug and play devices. These include anything PLUGGED into a USB PORT such as my iPod or Digital Camera. It also does not recognize my printer or CD Drive. I emailed Microsoft Support and after I told them their solution did not work they STOPPED emailing. Please Help.
Computer Information Dell Dimension DIM3000 Intel (R) CELERON (R) CPU 2.40GHz 512 MB of RAMhmm how long has this been HAPPENING for........when did it start......did you make or can you think of any prior changes you would have made you your bios before this happened...This started in May, and I don't think I even know how to make changes to BIOS.well usually this means one of your usb ports is playing around....have you tried the device in any other sockets...Yes, and still no luck.Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager...find every instance of USB hubs and roots...right click each one and select Remove/Uninstall. You will get a warning message...ignore it. Upon re-boot Windows will automatically re-install them. Try it now.My computer now recognizes the printer, but I can't print because I need to put the software on it. And I can't do that because the computer still does not recognize the drive.
The drive is listed as SONY CD-RW CRX320EE, it is supposed to be SONY CD-RW CRX320AEDo the same procedure above for the CDRom drive...if this doesn't work the drive may have gone South.
