my son turned his computer on tonight and all we can get up is the very first page that comes up, not the start page with icons on.
cant do any thing, press the windows key and nothing happens.
have had alot of problems lately with it, in the last 3 months have had to reboot the computer a few times.
it's an acer computer and is windows xp just a year old.
any ideasmy lad has just now told me that he TURNS his computer of with the button and does not shut it down the correct way, could this be the cause of it not working?Yes. You may need to SWAP that drive into a working machine and run chkdsk /r on it if the CD won't go any further.
