Solve : Computer Problems.?

Answer»

Hey everybody, I recently got 2 computers from a local computer store. They were cheap and on the older side of machines. When I first plugged them in they worked fine then after a couple days of use things started happening and now both dont work.

Computer 1: Its a AMD Athlon 2000+ computer, When I plug it in I get a continuous beep that lasts about 2 seconds, stop and then repeats. I opened it up and removed everything until it was just the motherboard, all cards, ide cables and ram was removed. It still did the beeps, Im guessing the motherboard failed. Is this correct? I'd like to know before replacing it.

Computer 2: This one is a Intel 1.1ghz celeron I believe but not CERTAIN, It worked great the first few days then suddenly froze one day. I reset it and NOTHING happened, The computer fans start to spin but nothing appears on the monitor and no beeps at all. I again removed everything down to its barebones and same thing, nothing at all happens cept it acts like its turning on. I have no idea whats wrong with this one.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.#1 - this usually indicates bad RAM. Did you reseat the RAM & try again?

#2 - did you also disconnect the power to all the PERIPHERALS?

Alan <>< Computer 1: Yes I pulled out the ram and placed it BACK in nicely, same problem.

Computer 2: The only thing I had plugged into the motherboard was the main power cord and 2 other little cords, 1 is for the power button 1 for the cpu fan.

Im lost. Imma try some fresh ram computer 1 and post my results, any further help is great.Alright I got my AMD Machine working, it was badly seated ram. Weird I thought I did that but none the less thanks for the help on that.

Anybody know why my second machine is acting up? I push the power button and can hear the fans spin up but nothing appears on the screen and no beeps. Someone give me tips to diagnose this problem so we can narrow it down. I hope its not a bad mobo.Try and swap in a known working PSU of the same or greater wattage on Beast #2 and see if this corrects things...
