Solve : Computer screen width height ratio problem?

Answer»

My problem is; I'm not at all sure if the visible width and height ratio of my computer screen is correct. I have set the screen RESOLUTION at 800X600 pixels True color. The menu for my computer screen width and height settings has no 'default' option. Myself being a graphic designer, how do I ensure a particular image I see on the computer screen is in its original width and height ratio? Is there a software application that SETS this optimal ratio automatically? Any advice? Is this a desktop or LAPTOP computer? If a desktop, what make and model is your monitor? If a laptop, it's display is a "widescreen", right? And, if a laptop, what make and model?Quote from: soybean on April 05, 2009, 12:16:50 PM

Mine is a desktop, 15 inch CRT monitor. 800 x 600 resolution is a normal and common resolution for a 15" monitor, a resolution which will display images in their correct proportions, the correct ratio between height and width. At 800 x 600 resolution, the "aspect ratio" is 1.33 (800/600). Any other resolution with the same aspect ratio, such as 1024 x 768, will maintain the correct proportions when viewed on your monitor. Thanks for info about aspect ratio! This will help solve my problem I hope.
