Answer» I recently put together a computer which, when I push the power button, starts to power up for 3-4 seconds, makes a couple of quiet ticking noises then shuts off. It will then automatically try to power up again and repeat this process until I switch it off at the wall. It never makes it FAR enough to display anything on the screen when it is doing this. Once I have switched it off at the wall and back on again, it usually boots up fine and operates as normal. The computer has a E6750 proccessor on a Gigabyte motherboard (P35 chipset) with a 250GB SATA harddrive and 2GB of RAM. At first guess i would say there must be some thing wrong with your power suply.... Did you remember to use thermal compound on this build ? ? Is the heatsink/fan combo fastened securely ? ? Did you use all the MBoard standoffs REQUIRED ? ?
