Solve : Computer starts up after switching off usually about 2am?

Answer»

After I turn my computer at night it will START again at around 2am How do I overcome this? OjasAre you sure your computer is being shut down? Your not just using Hibernation or Sleep Mode?
If that is the case, you MIGHT have maintance running at that time, waking it up or something under the Task Scheduler.

In BIOS did you see any listings under Boot options dealing with Wake-On settings such as WOL (Wake on Lan) etc?

Do you have a faulty power button?

Do you have kids SNEAKING around at 2am?

You might have the '2am Worm' virus? ekkk!

or the other way to prevent computer to startup is to unplug the computer when finished or plug the computer to a power strip/surge protector and hit the switch when finished.Quote from: rthompson80819 on May 19, 2010, 02:10:52 PM

I know that's spam, but that's GOT to be one of the funniest posts I've seen.

No way I'd click on that link.

who is this alien hijacking this post?

Anyway, did OP get his help he needed yet???I think that Azzaboi was on the right track with hibernation or sleep mode being the PROBLEM. Home PCs just don't start up on their own.Quote from: rthompson80819 on May 19, 2010, 02:58:56 PM

Sometimes they do. It's usually a setting in bios (Wake on Lan)Quote from: Allan on May 19, 2010, 03:19:27 PM

Then Azzaboi was still on the right track, since he mentioned that as well.
