Solve : computer suddenly shut down?

Answer»

my unit always automatic shut down without any notice and the keyboard lights are still on.. it maybe because of over HEAT, i installed speedfan and the reading was
GPU : 54C
CPU : 43C
Local : 41C
Remote 2: 44C
HD0 : 40C
Core 0 : 40C
Core 1 : 40C
Core : 54C
Ambient : 0C

is it bad?

i also have static coming from my monitor.. is that ok? wont it affect my unit? or may it be the cause of my unit shutting down by itself..

sometimes when i turn on my unit after shutting down automatically, my monitor have no display..

Disable "Restart on error" feature...

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab (Vista: click Advanced system settings).
3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the NECESSARY number of times.
5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

You may see some error message. If so, post back what it SAYS.my unit don't restart, it turns off and you'll have to turn it on again.. but i've done your tip and now im just waiting for it to turn off..

but now i tested to use only my built in video card.. im testing it because in my speedfan result, i have a reading of 54C in my GPU and it has a burning icon on it so i think that it is high.

about my monitor, first my unit have esd everytime i try to touch it and  i traced that its coming out from my monitor. i tried to remove the cable then the esd is gone. how do i remove that from my monitor?

thanks for the reply.. 54C for video card is not tragic.

I have no idea. You may have a short somewhere.so far it hasn't shutdown. im not using my video card. i thought maybe it is my video card because it usually turns off when i'm playing games but now im not playing. i'll try to play to test it..
i also thinking maybe its my cpu fans or heatsinks because overheat usually is the cause of automatic shutdown, right?

if it turns off, will i see the error message your telling when i turn it on again? It shouldn't turn off, but display error message instead. If it's overheating, it'll probably turn off without any message.

When was the last time, you cleaned the computer inside, using a can of compressed air?about 3 months ago but there is no dust build up or anything.. how would i know if the heatsink is not doing its job?

so far is hasn't turn off..Keep it going...so far no errors.. il test it until tomorrow and post here if THERES an error..i left for school and let my brother check if my computer will automatically turn off.. He said that it turned off when he was using it.. so it seems that my video card wasn't the problem.. i think it maybe because of overheat.. whats the highest temperature for cpu?

COULD it be because of my power supply? please give me an idea to know what would i check..

thanksHave you checked your power saving settings in Control Panel ? ? Quote from: rad1cal on August 02, 2009, 09:48:31 AM

Is it an older crt monitor? If so, some static is normal with these. is it in the power scheming? my power schemes is always on..
but i haven't change any of this before my problem shows up..

how can i check the fan of my cpu if its working fine?
the fan is working but i don't know if it cool down my cpu.
