Solve : Computer Temperature?

Answer»

I recently built a new computer with: core 2 duo e6600 processor, p6n PLATINUM msi mother board, evga 8800gts, 2 gbs corsair ram, a dvd writer, dvd rom, cooler master cases with two 120mm fans. I installed SPEED fan to see my temperatures, and this is what i got when i was idling:
-Temp1:37C
-Temp2:45C
-HD0-44C
-Core0-42C
-Core1-41C

When running a high performance game, the readings are:
-Temp1:43C
-Temp2:50C
-HD0-50C
-Core0-57C
-Core1-55C

I was wondering if these are normal temperatures?

There is also something that says Temp3- -128C, and it stays that way, but im guessing thats nothing because nothing is -128Cthose high usage core TEMPS are a little high. With a good cooler you should see load temps around 40 C.

60c is hot, 55c is warm, and 50c is safe. When you say cooler, do you mean a fan?I didn't notice my CPU temp on the 2 benchmarks I ran this past weekend but, my cpu at idle is anywhere from 23-24C 78 f

I have very good airflow in my case, artic 5 and you know the zalman. Those core temps might be off also because of the program doesn't always read it correctly. The temps are kinda high i am running my core 2 at around 3 GHZ and i am at the same temps but i have a bit better cooling in my system. Double check the thermal compound to make sure that has good coverage.

Some thermal compound also needs a burn in time of 2 weeks to settle and temps then are a bit better. Normally drops them up to 5cQuote from: totempoll on June 25, 2007, 02:26:13 PM

heatsink+fan
For temp readings sometimes it's advisable to have 2 or even 3 or 4 sources of info.
Modern BIOS's will report temps.
For other programs Everest Home and System Info for Windows will also report temps.
Compare all 3/4 and you should get an average temp reading.
