Answer» I have a 10 year old desktop with 586mhz and about 128 Ram and I have been getting runtime error messages also low virtual memory and now sometimes computer will only beep continusly not even screen will show anything and after unpluging everything it will not help after a few tries it will start up and work fine. I seen somwhere that if you have award bios and it beeps steady it is most likely to be ram does this SOUND right? It does mention on the screen when it will start something about cmos is not right but I have not entered setup in YEARS to change anything. JohnProbably a bad CMOS battery=10 years old. Part # CR 2032 available most anywhere.Yes I noticed my date is two days BEHIND will have charge battery first. What do you think about soldiering in one of those old batteries you know the ones that are 2 inches TALL with wires? JohnNot a GOOD idea... The CMOS battery costs 4 or 5 Bucks. A new board would be alot more.
