Solve : Computer will not boot up!!!?

Answer»

Hi, I have an HP desktop computer at home that will not boot up. It is an HP Pavilion 576x with an Intel Celeron solo-core
processor. It will power on and everything, but after it gets past the screen where you can go to BIOS settings or system recovery, it goes to a black screen and at the top it SAYS, "Operating System not found," and I dont KNOW what to make of it. I've even tried setting the BIOS settings back to default settings but I dont know what to do about it. Also, I've tried RUNNING Linux on it, but at the home screen everything is shifted to the left and theres a thick black border where the screen should be. Can anyone please help. All comments are appreciated. ThxWhen you tried Linux, did you access the windows partition and examine it for anything obvious?

Did you try pressing auto-adjust on your monitor and/or changing resolution?does at have any unusual beeps on startuphmmm, I bet I just didn't adjust the monitor display correctly when I tried Linux on it. As in unusual beeps, no there wasn't anything that was abnormal during booting until it gets right past the screen where you can access the BIOS settings and recovery. Ill try checking the hard drive to see if its damaged or anything, I never even THOUGHT of that. Thanks guys
