Solve : computer won't boot up?

Answer»

The power supply is ok, the hard drive is spinning, the fan on the mother board comes on and stays on but I have a blank monitor. I fear the motherboard is shot. I have an ACER that is less than a year old any tips would be appreciated. Is the machine getting to the POST?

If not it could be a RAM issue...

What are the specs of your system? CPU, OS, memory etc...

Did you make any changes to the system prior to this happening? HARDWARE or softwareThe COMPUTER was running when the monitor just went dark. Noone was operating the machine at the time. I could hear the fan on the motherboard on and that was it. Now when I turn on the computer the fan comes on immediately and I can feel the hd spinning but no signal ever gets to the monitor, it justs keeps blinkingDo you get any system beeps when you try to start the computer up?no beepsDoes the monitor power indicator light up? Have you TRIED a different monitor?the monitor power light blinks, the same it would if I had the monitor on while the cpu was powered down. I have tried another monitor without luck. What happened prior to this ? ?

Any missing details ? ?Are you able to/Have you tried a known working GPU?Quote from: tlw9107 on June 11, 2007, 08:24:09 AM
