Answer» Hi My computer has developed a fault when TRYING to shut itself down. I do hear my 2 hard drives switch themselves off, but for some reason, the Cpu fan and all other fans keep spinning....Does anyone have any ideas whats wrong here? The things I have tried so far are as follows: Cleared the CMOS, Unplugged all the usb devices apart from mouse and keyboard, re seated RAM and graphics cards and tried another Psu. I have now run out of idea's and hope someone can suggest something else. Thanks!
1) MOTHERBOARD: Asus crosshair 2) Ram 2 gig Corsair 3) Psu Coolermaster 700 modular 4) Cpu Amd Athlon 64x2 Dual core 3.2 GHz 5) Windows Vista 32bit How long do you wait ? ? What method of shutdown ? ?And when did this start happening?1) I have waited more than 10 minutes before I give up and press and hold the front switch, this is the only way to switch it off completely.
2) My normal shutdown would be Start/arrow/Shutdown.
3) Started happening just before I posted this, up until then it was all good. I have not added anything new to the computer. Try a System Restore to a few days before the problem.I have tried System Restore but it didn't solve the problem. I also tried using my Acronis software to restore an image I had taken of my hard drive, prior to this happening, but unfortunately this didn't work either. Can some give me a list a probabilities, including the ONES I have already done. Also, am I wrong in thinking this could be a motherboard fault?Troubleshoot Vista shutdown issues...
