Solve : Confused about Amd cpu Help please?

Answer»

Hi I recently had a pc in for repair. The cpu heatsink and fan cradle cracked so it was left not fastened down on top of the cpu. My guess is, the cpu has overheated and blown. Ok The cpu i need is an Amd Athlon 64 for a AM2 socket. The cpu part number i believe is ADA3500IAA4CN. Now I have found ONE on Ebay but the part number is a little different, it is ADA3500IAA4CW. Could you please tell me if this cpu will work, it is just the end letter that is different. Thanks You.

ChrisSome chips have a Revision in their item# to make pulling a bad batch out of inventory EASIER being able to check for a REVISON letter. The chip should be the exact same chip you had, possibly a newer Rev W vs N. If its an AM2 3500 you should be good to go.

Hopefully only your CPU was bad and it didnt hurt the MOTHERBOARD on meltdown. I generally buy new MOTHERBOARDS after CPU meltdowns unless I have a spare CPU that wont come at a monetary loss to me if the stressed motherboard then fries what was a good CPU or the system still doesnt work after swapping CPUs.Thanks for the infomative advice. Yeah I agree i don't really want to fork out £££s for a cpu if the mobo socket is damaged. I usually have an odd cpu kicking about but unfortunately not this time. I think i will write this one off. Thanks again.

Regards
Chris
