Solve : confused about CD burner?

Answer»

My computer has CD and CD/DVD drives, when I click on PROPERTIES, recording, I can only enable CD recording on one of the drives because it DISABLES it on the other. I know that both used to be able to burn discs but now only one will burn discs, how can I set both drives to be able to record discs? What OS and PC make/model?I have a Dell XPS 400 with windows XP.If you unplug the flat cable on the CD drive ad reboot, does the DVD drive then become the burner? If so, why not just leave it that way?  I think the issue here is you are USING strictly Windows for your burning purposes...
There are FREE alternatives...my favorite CDBurnerXPro.I'm wondering since the "enable CD recording" box is unchecked on the CD drive and it is working if somehow the problem was was checking the box? If I leave the box unchecked on on the DVD drive would that fix the problem? Quote from: dslgeek on October 10, 2008, 06:47:36 PM

Because I would rather have both drives working since they both will read discs and it's easier to copy them.I was able to find out that leaving the "drag & drop" box unchecked solved my problem. There was no problem with any programs or the drives, and it wasn't that I'm using windows, it was the settings.Yep...Windows settings.
Other burning apps don't create this issue...

ACTUALLY it was because someone in this forum suggested that I change them when I had a different problem, it wasn't windows that changed them.
