Solve : Confused about Voice Modems, SIP and TAPI?

Answer»

I am trying to buy a software that will allow my calls to go through it-for an auto attendant feature.  The software requires a VOICE modem that is either SIP or TAPI.  I currently use OOMA and cannot find anyone at OOMA that know if I can still use their Voip through one of these VOICE modems and have the software work.

Has anyone out there TRIED this or have experience with using a modem to redirect phone through PC?

I have spent hours trying to figure this out.

Thank youWhat TYPE of Internet service are you using?  Is it DSL or cable or dialup? CableExactly what is the auto attendant feature?  Evoice is one, http://www.voicent.com/pbx.php this is a software I am looking at buying...i just don't understand what I need.  ThanksI'm guessing you are buying this for an office.  How many lines or stations are INVOLVED?I want to have one at my LOCATION and one at my assistants house. After reading the info on that website, I have the impression that you could use Skype with that service and, if so, you would not need a voice modem.  I'm not absolutely sure about this but it's what I gather from the website.  Have you seen the videos at http://www.voicent.com/slide/pbx.htm?  If not, I think they may clear your mind of some of your CONFUSION.
