Solve : Connecting Computer to TV, What's best??

Answer»

There are a number of options when attempting to connect my computer to my TV.  I have a Dell Inspiron Windows xp computer with dvi and vga outputs.  I have a Sony Wega LCD TV which has either HDMI or VGA inputs.  What is the best way to connect these?  I tried to connect with a DVI HDMI cord and seemed to work ok other than the screen was shrunk up some.  Would VGA to VGA be better?

Thanks for you help.In my opinion you have the best configuration.

You might want to see if you can CHANGE the Sony config and turn off any overscan it might have. My older Samsung DLP overscans on 1080i HDMI signals and the scaling MAKES the computer text look pretty crappy. It ALSO cuts off at least a dozen pixels all the way around.

RaydudeAny helpful hints on how to change the config to turn off the overscan? You have to look in the manual or through the menus. I don't own a Sony so I can't begin to guess.

Sorry I can't be more help. If you find a pdf of the manual online I can look through it for you.
