Answer» Hi,
I am using a surface book 2 that has only one usb-c port. I would like to connect to 2 of my external monitors: acer and hp elitedisplay E201.
In regards to my monitor output cable. This is what I have:
Acer: HDMI-HDMI cable
HP: display port- HDMI or display port-USB C
I bought a dual HDMI dock from AMAZON but it still only detects my acer screen. My hp screen says "check video cable". Here is the link to the dock: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Docking-Station-Monitors-Compatible/dp/B08CRCRPCJ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I would really want to know how I can connect the two monitors. Do I need to get a new docking station? Thank you so much!!Simple saner is NO. The surface pro 2 is too old. I suspect you have the wrong display port- HDMI cable. The cable if it is described as DP to HDMI is for a computer with Display port connecting to a display with HDMI. You can't use it the other way round.
Quote from the net. You cannot use the above adapter in REVERSE – to adapt an HDMI signal to a monitor's DisplayPort receptacle even though the gender is a perfect match. ... The HDMI specification does not support the DisplayPort LVDS signal type, and if the HDMI TMDS is plugged into a DP monitor, it will not work.
To use the HP monitor you would need an HDMI to DVI D Adapter Cable - Bi-Directional - HDMI to DVI or DVI to HDMI Adapter for Your Computer Monitor
