Solve : continous beeping noise?

Answer»

so today I put a fresh new motherboard/cpu and used my old ram , graphics card , cd-rom drives/ hard disk drives.

When I first powered on the pc for the first time, a beeping noise comes out of the PC and I have no idea what's causing it. My friend told me that the RAM is causing it.

system specs.

asrock 939dual-vsta
amd athlon 64 x2 dual-core processor 939
Ram 2 512DDR PC2700 1 dimm 256

Any thoughts as to why this is happening or is the RAM the problem?Incompatible RAM. Go here:

Track down your motherboard and GET the proper RAM

Alan <>< You didn't force the RAM into the slot, did you? Because that mainboard is capable of both DDR 1 and DDR 2 and I know of someone who ACTUALLY managed to force DDR1 into a DDR 2 slot.. Well, I Fixed the beeping issue but on load up says

"reboot and select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

This is a new motherboard that I hooked up with old hard drives, do I need to set I the drive in bios as master boot so that the mb recognizes it as the boot device? Is it set to boot off the HDD with the OS on it?

You'll have to reinstall Windows, though, might as well boot directly off the CD.

The BIOS should be set to auto-detect all IDE/SATA devices. All fixed, thanks for the help!Come back anytime.
