Answer» Hi guys,
I have a short .avi file on a CD. It plays about 3/4 of the way through and then I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the CD. The disc MIGHT be dirty or damaged." - but the information that I want is in the first 3/4 so I don't really care about the last 1/4.
I would like to TRANSFER what I have to my PC, but it tried for a while before saying "cannot read from the source file or disk." and then of course it rejects the whole copying process.
I just thought that there must be some way of copying the readable 3/4 that I want from my CD to my computer?
Any info would be GRATEFULLY received.
Regards, Kop442000.kop44200, Very INTRIGUING that the disc is in someway "damaged or corrupted" and that it will play ANYTHING. Obviously you can try cleaning it. Have you tried using a program to copy the part you want to your computer hardrive? If it plays you should be able to capture the required portion back to your HDD and then using a new disc re record it. Another thing you can try is download VLC media player (it's free) as often it will play things Media Player will not. If those options don't work come back and we'll try other things.truenorth P.S. Let us know how things work out.
