Answer» Hi,
I have an old Toshiba Tecra 510CDT laptop with DOS 6.22 installed.
I mainly use this laptop for programming / coms for Legacy industrial control systems. (programs that RUN under DOS only, and need the COM port)
How can I copy / transfer all the files from this laptop to another PC for safe keeping. There are many files, and USING the Floppy will take forever!
Can a serial port transfer utility still be obtained for this purpose? (DOS one side, XP the other?)
I have a few other PCs... 95, 98, XP if anything can be run on these.
I used Laplink many moons ago, not sure if this is still available, and will it cross OS platforms?
Would REMOVING the hard-drive for cloning / copying somehow be an option? (IDE?) If so, what kit could be used?
THANKS.
DOS 6.22 has interlink as part of it, which works a lot like laplink
unfortunately, the other machine needs this installed too, maybe win 95 / 98 has this built in ? This page might be of use

And This...Thanks gpl, thanks patio.
Patio, is that a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter (pic)Yeper...2.5 laptop to IDE adapter.....'Bout 7 Bucks...Ghost the old Toshiba laptop & store the image on the XP machine. Use Ghost Explorer to EXTRACT any file from the image.
