Answer» Ok, guys.
I have an old computer and I'm planning to upgrade the hardware to use it for testing purposes. I'm planning to buy a second hand Intel CORE 2 Duo E6700, which has a FSB of 1066. Currently, the RAM is a DDR2 800 (2Gb). My question is:
Can I run a DDR2 800 with the Core 2 Duo E6700, which is 1066 or I must get a CPU which is 800 same as my RAM?
Also I am running Windows 32bit.
Thank.Depends on the motherboard, not the cpu. Are you sure the motherboard supports that cpu? Bus frequency is 266 MHz. Because the processor uses QUAD Data Rate bus the effective bus speed is 1066 MHz. Yes, my motherboard is P5KPL-CM and supports up to Core 2 Quad.I agree, i depends of your motherboard. You should change it first but if you don't have money enough then wait a little more to save some
