Solve : cpu for 478 socket?

Answer»

Hi Y'all
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a dual core processor on the market that is compatible for the 478 socket.I have heard that there is a few but I have tried to find out but  still cannot find anything on them.
I currently have :Asrock P4i65G M/Board with apogee 7600 GTX Grafix card,2GB of crucial RAM,3GHz intel pentium 4 HT cpu
The hyperthreading is supposed to simulate dual processors but it still does not compare to any of the  dual cores that i have used previously.
any advice would be most appreciated amny thanx in advavncenope.

any intel multiple core processor will be socket 775. with 478 you're pretty much stuck with either celeron or P4. To reiterate what has been said, to get a much better CPU you will need a new board.
Socket 478 has a choice between older P4s, or the Celeron series.
Also, there is no such thing as a 7600GTX graphics card. There is a Nvida 7600 GS though I bought one not so long ago...

SORRY. don't know where i got 7600GTX from, its Geforce 6800(AGP not PCI)
so if i can't get dual cpu's for this MoBo do you know if there is a MoBo that will take my graphix card and dual cpu's and i am not too botheres wether its AMD or Intel
my budget would be in the region of about £175-£200 (approx $350-$400)I meant to say

Other than price it makes more sense to upgrade around a CPU RATHER than a graphics card...I would advise you to ditch the graphics card and CPU and go for a new CPU, motherboard and card.  You'll also need new RAM.
Why?  Because that could still fall within your budget of £200 (are you in the UK, then?) and would provide better performance and scope for upgrades.  If you buy a new board with AGP rather than PCI-E, you'll be LIMITED in your choice of VIDEO card upgrades.
If you want to go down this route, let me know and I'll help you pick some good components, I recently specced out a build with a CPU, motherboard, RAM and graphics card that should be perfect for you.A friend of friend tells me there is MoBo's out there that have AGP and PCI-e this would be quite helpful as the MoBo's he mentioned are DDR and DDR2 compatible
I tried looking them up but to no avail
So what kind a gear would you recommend in that price bracket or do you know what MoBo's have that spec
Well i dont know too much about the sitiation but my advice would be to try this out.

They have a nice selection of MoBo's they have a pretty wide price RANGE too. you just might be ABLE to find what you are looking for.hmmmmm i believe that 478 might have been discontinued. not sure tho.  There are motherboards that have PCI-E and AGP, but they're not common.
My advice is to go for a new board, CPU, RAM and graphics card in one go.
if you make it clear what you want, I'll be able to help you out.

if you mean that Socket 478 CPUs are no longer being produced, that's correct.

P.S. Sorry for late reply, been busy.
