Solve : CPU lockks up at startup?

1.	Solve : CPU lockks up at startup?
Answer» CPU -64 BIT AMD-EMachine/Gateway,XP home, locks up at start. The HD disk light stays on but the CD DRIVE will not open and screen is blank. The off button has to be depressed for about 10 sec before CPU goes off. ?? Suspect power supply failure?? or??sounds to me like a power supply failure. added note, the CPU is not the computer, it is a component in the computer. just thought i WOULD tell you in order to CLEAR up some confusion.
