I'm getting an error message from my intel hardware monitoring program that came with my board, saying that my processor temperature is 'out of zone'.
It's showing as being over 75 degrees celcius & my CPU fan is running at an avr rate of 2880 RPM.
Is there a problem with my fan?

Well it started a couple of days ago & as it hasn't happened before, I'm quite concerned.
It started happening while I was using GIMP & today it's been happening while I was trying to send an email with a large file attachment (can't understand how sending an email can OVERHEAT the processor?).
In the end I had to cancel the email at 20% & turn the PC off as it's temperature kept rising...
I've attached an image of the hardware monitoring program as it is now. You can see that the fan speed is really low in comparison to the guage maximum.
I'll TRY & send the email again then capture an image when it rises again...

[recovering space - attachment deleted by admin]GIMP could cause the temp to rise a bit too. Especially if you're playing with filters and such.8000RPM is actually QUITE fast for a fan to be spinning, it may just be a generic number that they chose to use. your fan may not EVEN be capable of achieving 8000RPM.

No I haven't cleaned it yet, I just woke up & had to do a few things like scratch certain areas of my anatomy (that SORT of thing).
But I'll do it today, I've never done it before but I got some of that pressurized air in a can what-do-yu-call-it stuff last week so I take it I can use that?

you certainly can use that. if you have a compressor, you can set it to about 20PSI and use that too.Thanks Homer/Michael, I'll let you know how I get on...your welcome, just remember to hold the fan while you use the compressed air. the fan can act as a generator and send voltage back to the motherboard when it spins.
