Answer» This is actually more than the heatsink stuck to the cpu, ill start from the top... It was TIME to get a new computer and i decided to have a go at building it myself. i got all the parts set it up installed windows no problems! but then.... one night. i shut down the computer, and suddenly 3 seconds later it turned back on by itself. the case was still kinda open and to my absolute horror, the fan wasnt spinning! i pulled the plug immediately. then i decided to go SLEEP, let the cpu cool down. then in the morning i plugged the computer back in, and it automatically turned on. i DIDNT EVEN press anything, and the cpu fan wasnt working again! so then i called up the place where i bought the computer parts and they said to bring in the motherboard and they will replace it, so when i was taking out the ram, video card, etc. i got to the heatsink/cpu, i tried to take the heatsink out but it didnt work, i applied a lil more force and it came out..but with the cpu stuck on it!!! arghhhh...now im back to square one and probably worse. btw all this happened within 24 hrs. i got a cpu that is stuck on a heatsink.. i dont even know if the cpu works now from what happened the other night where the cpu fan stopped, and i got a computer that automatically turns on whenever i plug the power supply to the wall socket. some one please help ><urrrm. This sounds like less of a tech question more of a bin and get a new one. If it has stuck i would assume it is to do with heat? In which case the only way to remove it would be to reapply heat, something i wouldn't recomend. See if u can dupe the company out of a new processer and heat sink aswell. tell them that the faulty mother board caused the problem. cos well it did
