Solve : Creative Sound Cards?

Answer»

I want to upgrade my basic creative sound card to a premium card. (this is what I currently have and it works pretty good- Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 )

My sound preferences are somewhat modest and I am not a big audio BUFF but want a great performing card .....

I would love to hear any INPUT from our members on this subject and even info on a different brand name if its a good product. Any feedback is appreciated . Which of these 2 cards would be better ?

Creative has been the popular choice for as long as I can remember...and either one of those cards should work well if your system meets the minimum system requirements.

Here's something else you may want to look into for just a little more money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102015lol, I am leaning towards that one because I have no extra 5.25 bay room.* I just read reviews on it and I think its the best choice though I hate to think of another month of Ramden noodles ! (price is HIGH) thanks for reassuring my thoughts...Quote from: honvetops on August 12, 2007, 09:04:29 AM

Hmmm, honvetops, I guess I just don't get it. If your sound preferences are somewhat modest and you're not a big audio *censored*, then why do you need a a great performing card? That's a contradiction if I've ever seen one. The card you have should be absolutely fine for your needs. Quote from: soybean on August 12, 2007, 10:18:09 AM

Here's my point. I would like to hear all these sounds I am not hearing with my current sound card in gaming-(the review on these cards all say with their product you can hear much more audio in the game) ...

I guess I would like a card with more tweaking ability.... My bass is extremely over powering and the high's from my speakers are rather modest. A better card should increase the highs and allow me to adjust the over powering bass. Maybe I am a little more audio demanding than I posted, sorry.Well, you didn't mention gaming in your original post. Did you read the specs on newegg.com on those two cards you posted? I took a look and noticed the higher priced one describes a feature for GAMING MODE. Other than what I saw on newegg, I'm not familiar with these cards.Hey Honvetops if you want to get a real kick out of your games get one of those low frequency strap on backpack things that connect to your sound port through a 'double adaptor' thingie.
My kids have one, I only used it a few times because it was just too scary.
They let you feel the sounds in your body, great for FPS with the volume up and the lights turned off but keep a defrib machine handy. I've seen those too* I KNOW nothing about them though your story sounds pretty interesting with the kids !
My readings are saying if you can drop more bling, get the elite series...... Soy is right in that my current card is ok but I like upgrades especially since this would be on my newer puter. My speakers really need a higher quality card to utilize them better.Quote from: honvetops on August 12, 2007, 09:04:29 AM

I just found the above card on sale @ Circuit City at an unbelievable 99.00
in STORE pickup when purchased online- can't beat that price anywhere!!! ( can't beat this deal )

I hope the improved FIDELITY is worth it. What kind of speakers do you have? That may be a less expensive solution. So good to see you here Mark !! I ended up getting the X-Fi gamer card, it does everything the Elite pro does except no box & remote (109db verse 116 db ) big deal...

I have the 5.1 Logitech 5300z 280 watts

I will install this thing later tonight .... I hope you stick around for awhile this time ?Thanks for the "Hi" and I am planning a full return.
