Answer» My computer shuts down and then when rebooting i get a blue screen that gives me an error MESSAGE that some hardware is not functioning proper. The o/s i use is WINXP i have an Epox 8KHA/+ mother board, this board as a diagnostic card built in which gives FF read out according to the manual this could be an inappropriate add on card or a faulty motherboard. Ive stripped the computer down and powered up the mother board and still get the same fault which suggest it is the motherboard that is faulty. What i cant understand is the computer works fine in between the shut downs. I also have ante virus SOFTWARE provided by my internet server which when i run the scan is gauranteed to shut the computer down. Ive thought of taking the cpu out cleaning and REPLACING the thermal paste can any one RECOMMEND a substance for cleaning the cpu. Or can anyone come up with an answer for this problem. Thanks in advance jhaddWhat is the exact error message you're receiving? "Some hardware" isn't very descriptive.Important Thermal Paste Guidelinesre nstall your operating SYSTEM problem solvedQuote from: kartic9765 on December 22, 2007, 05:35:19 AM re nstall your operating system problem solved
How can you know that's the problem when we don't even know what the error is or what hardware it involves?
Before jumping to conclusions, it's wise to get more information. The solution to everything is not reinstalling the OS.Im sorry ive not got back before now the computer is still shutting down and rebooting but without going to the blue screen with the error message as soon as it does i will post the message . thanks again jhadd
