Solve : CRT monitor power-on issue?

Answer»

Dell Dimension 4400
AOC CRT Monitor 15"
Rage 128 Pro ULTRA GL AGP
Windows XP (Home Edition)

I don't know if this is a real problem or not. I recently bought a used system with a CRT monitor. When I power up the monitor, it sounds like it is getting a power surge of sorts. After the computer is POWERED up, the monitor clicks a few TIMES as if it is turning off and on.
After that, no problems. The picture is great and there is no flicker of any kind. It just sounds like a tube inside the monitor is getting too much juice as soon as it is turned on.
I've seen this with 19" CRT monitor I used to own.
Is this something to be concerned about?

Thank you.

...WillThat sound is common on older CRT's ...similar to an OLD Star Trek sound effect...
The click sound means the transformer is on it's last legs...it may last another week or it may last another year.
Just keep using it til it dies but be PREPARED to get a new monitor. Thanks, Patio. You're exactly right about how it sounds like something from Star Trek.
