Answer» i just got some NEW pc speakers and have set them up. I have a problem. The speaker with the power button and volume control is louder than the other speaker. I have gone to control panel>sound and audio>speaker volume and have made sure that both the individual speakers volume is at the correct level which it is.
i can work around it by adjusting the right speaker volume less so it matches the already low left speaker but i feel this is sacrificing the speaker potential.
i have also noticed that when i turn the volume up quite high on the speakers then the left speaker suddenly GETS louder and begins to match the right however as soon as i turn the volume to a normal level the left goes quieter again.
i have tried the speakers on my phone and they play fine.
can anybody help? thanks.
Do you have the audio cable plugged in all the way into the audio port on your computer? Plugged into the correct port? The audio out port is USUALLY green. My first thought was actually that you have a bad set of speakers. If you have everything hooked up properly, you might have defective speakers. In that case, you should take them back and exchange them.yesterday. Have you gone into your volume controlls to ensure that your "balance" is set to provide equal volume to both sides? truenorthThe audio cable is plugged all the way in. i don't think the speakers are bad because they worked fine on another device
Truenorth: yes i have checked that the balance is level. Are there volume controls on one of the speakers ? Did your sound work before this ? Is this onboard sound or an addon card ? If so how old is the card ?Yes there are volume controls on one of the speakers. yes my sound worked before this. Im not sure if i do have an addon or onboard sound card how do i check? device manager?
if i do have one its probably about 5 years old.
thanks. yesterday, If it is "on-board" it will be integrated to the motherboard and will appear usually (on the rear of the computer tower in close proximity to other "on board" devices IE: the mouse and keyboard ports etc. However if it is an "add on" it will be in another SLOT lower down in the computer as a PCI or AGP card (again visible on the rear of the tower). If you feel up to it(it is not difficult) after unplugging the computer and REMOVING the side of the tower that will give you visual access to it's content.(also be sure to discharge any static from yourself and the tower if you might touch any of the interior components). You will be able to see clearly what i have outlined above.good luck, truenorth
