Right. He needs to dry both the motherboard and the power supply. If the water was very pur, there should be not problem. Here is supplemental information: This is the procedure to clean any electronic computer board that has become dirty because of water flooding. Remove the circuit board from he box or fixture. Spray both sides of the circuit board with a mixer of : 1/2 PINT water 1 pint rubbing alcohol 70 - 80 % 1/4 teaspoonful of illiquid detergent. Shake off excess and dry completely. Reapeat if dirts residue is still visible. Use a hair dryer to speed up the process. All water must be removed. IMPORTANT. A small trace of water gets into some components. When the power is turned on again the component will become permanently damaged. This is why you must place the circuit board in an AREA where there is heat, good ventilation and very low humidity for several hours. Ambient temperateness of 80 c will not damage electronic components while the power is off. High temperature is the most effective WAY to drive out trapped moisture. EDIT: EITHER buy a new hard drive or send it in to a professional to recover the data. Trying to recover a water damaged hard drive is very hard to do. |
