Solve : Data transfer between hard drives?

Answer»

I have two hard drives in my desktop (Gateway). I'd like to combine the info on the slave and master hard drives to a new larger hard drive. Is there a recommended program for the data transfer? Are the drives raided? What OS are you using?

If not, I would use Acronis true image to clone your master drive to the new drive. Then I would use quickmirror to copy the contents of your slave drive to a location in your new drive. You might have to repair some bad sectors or write a new MBR if the PC won't boot after the cloning. Both HDs are Western Digital, running on Windows XP OS. Not sure what the term "raided" means, but the old HD is a slave and the newer is the master. The intent was to transfer data from both units to one new, larger unit.

Thanks.Don't WORRY about the "raid" QUESTION - or the OS. Using disk IMAGING software was a good suggestion. Thanks, I'll give Quickmirror a shot.Yeah, if you're running windows don't worry about the OS question. If you see only one drive instead of 2 drives in windows that HOLDS your data, worry about the raid question Quote from: coyote454 on October 30, 2010, 03:16:36 PM

Thanks, I'll give Quickmirror a shot.

Macrium Reflect has a Free Edition...
Also a LITTLE known fact almost ALL HDD manuf. Free utilities contain a "cloning" tool...
